That's a fantastic piece of writing, and lots of stuff on there I haven't heard, great excuse for some downloading.

Am very disappointed to see the Matia Bazar - Ti Sento video. She's nothing like she looked like in my head, I was expecting something more diva-like :(

I shall endeavour to wipe that video from my head so as not to ruin the song next time I hear it...which will be soon, as it's totally my record of the year (even if it is from 1985)

I'm so happy that Ti Sento made it in there!

Great article. Some brilliant moments in there, loads of stuff I've not heard but will endeavour to hear at some point. Most importantly, though, a nicely broad definition of what 'pop music' might include. Excellent.

"Let Forever Be"! Beguiling video, but the endless dislocations Gondry puts that poor shopgirl through is nothing short of sadistic!

OH WAIT

I digitized the "Sunday Morning"/"Come Out" mash-up from the tape you sent me many many moons ago. AWFUL fidelity, but maybe I can find it in my archives somewhere.

It is an inspiring piece - some of the entries nail what I was feebly attempting in my short-lived 'great moments in music' FT pieces, the moments in music that make you certain there is nothing better in life than this, if only for a second.

Explain me "Rolex Sweep." Never heard of it until now. Is it: Wiley records "Rolex Sweep" as followup to "Wearing My Rolex," labelmate Skepta then records own version with new "dance" move, quick vids rushed out to capitalize, label then claims it's an "Internet phenomenon," eventually puts out official vid?

Timmy Mallett can't dance like me

I have no idea which came first but I think the vid below is one of my favourite things on Youtube. It won't make much sense to you, Frank, but to British dudes of a certain age (http://www.brillianttv.co.uk/wacaday/) it is 100% roflcopter.
