i: "wild suspense" by (the?) wailing souls, 1979 --- ancient cassette tape, track-list written in green biro; this is such a lovely record; reggae vocal groups are just beyond awesome -- their name is great, the lp's name is great, the song-title "bredda gravalicious" is great... i should write something long about this
ii: "two bad dj" by clint eastwood and general saint, 1988 -- well it says it's this but i'm sure it isn't it's a live LP of some sort, feat.ini kamoze guesting at one point (the only live reggae lp i remember recording is aswad live and direct but obviously it isn't that)
iii: "gone to earth" by david sylvian, 1986 -- this lasted a track and a half, it's AWFUL: i still like japan (one and half lps worth, but sylvian on his own is DREADFUL)
iv: "RIP" by richard hell, roir tapes, 1984: lasted half a side, i don't mind it but it's all unfinished half-cock ideas, which seemed exciting way back when, but he sure never went and completed em, and anyone who did i'd rather (with all this time elapsed) go listen to them
v: "room to live: undilutable slang truth" by the fall, 1982: i am REALLY REALLY of a mind to write something substantial about the fall -- they've been a feature of my life for THIRTY YEARS after all

i'd like to write about the music i think -- a *real* challenge to find the language to do that

I think I bought that Sylvian LP for a quid once. I lasted a track and ahalf too, and maybe a couple of quick dips into other tracks on the same side then it was into the out pile. Does it have Fripp on it?

I love the Wailing Souls. And the Fall - I kind of think there's a lot to say about them, but it tends to be anecdotal. I find it really hard to explain why I love their music so much, especially something like Bill Is Dead, which I find immensely beautiful despite the difficulty in explaining how MES vocals and 'beautiful' can go together.

Pls to be writing about how The Fall have made the adjective 'dirge' into something wonderful.

Some DS solo stuff is lovely, but IIRC that was a fairly poor album.

Otherwise, lovely picks.

Where do Rain Tree Crow fit into that? They are like Japan, but more self-indulgent! (I love Rain Tree Crow)
