Downloads might be killing off the album, but the Mercury dudes are carrying on regardless. This year's nominations are below, but do you poptimist folks actually listen to this sort of thing?

It's a really brilliant song - I want 'Bleeding Love' to win (I didn't care for it much for at least half the 94338239043 weeks it was at No 1 but it's just gotten better and better with age, I listened to it last night and it sounded like such a standard). 'Call The Shots' is a fine song but GA winning again at this juncture would be so lame, plus it's a less-good version of 'Early Winter'. There are some really appalling tracks on the Pjustice list, even more so than the merely-dull Mercury - nothing on the Merc list is anywhere near as terrible as the Ting Tings :o
