[identity profile] freakytigger.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] poptimists
Thanks to everyone who came to Poptimism on Saturday - it was a great success I thought, 15 DJs (including me and [livejournal.com profile] atommickbrane on warm-up and wind-down) juggled with minimal fuss, and everyone's set had at least one massive banger in it. We should certainly do it again though next time I might not put the post-it note "rankings" up publically, as I thought it was a little unfair on people who played some excellent music which the crowd failed to reward.

And now, THE SETS (some details still to be filled in). The track marked with an asterisk is that individual's TOP BANGER. Any help on filling in gaps greatly appreciated!

I think either Rob's or Kat's would have been my favourite! though I don't like Scooter and have never heard the Temptations.

what I would have played had I not fallen over from Pimm's earlier:

ARMAND VAN HELDEN - U Don't Know Me
RIHANNA - Don't Stop The Music
LIL' JON AND THE EAST SIDE BOYZ ft. YING YANG TWINS - Get Low
LIL' MAMA ft. CHRIS BROWN & T-PAIN - Shawty Get Loose

Reference point: Fergie sampled their 'Get Ready' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQdSJXPDtjs) for 'Here I Come' on her album? They are much better at singing than dancing, I promise.

Think they might have been taking the piss in that video. Normally, they're fine dancers.

"Diva" was the DANA INTERNATIONAL track, a Eurovision song of yore. [livejournal.com profile] atommickbrane forced me to buy the single when in Croydon's famous Beano's, but it grew on me. The Jackson 5 track I played last was also unknown to all (note to self in future: play the hit singles), but called "You Made Me What I Am". Good night though, hurrah!

Haha mine first song is "Death to Los Campesinos!"

I think the Therapy? was Screamager.

I enjoyed a lot of the last bit, including an Andrew WK album track*! What the out-Scootering Scooter final track?

*concept may not fully apply

Even Scooter couldn't f*ck up "Whatever You Want". And to their credit, they don't try to. :)

Indeed it was Screamager - cue me trying to remember how to dance to INDIE ROCK after several years off...

Well done everyone, I was absolutely exhausted by so many splendid sets!

Oh yeah! Hahaha that was me when realising my other cd was missing and I had a wicked thought. I listened to the singles through the cans but then whatever track I played (the one with the plinky plinky awesome start! I dunno the title!) sang to me :)

EDIT: Andrew WK that is!! None of this THERAPY?!?!! nonsense.

Oh yes! You're right. It seemed so HUGE I thought it was a single, and I am pretty sure I've listened to it with foax before but then again that could have been a party. This is high praise for Mr. WK, everything on that album sounds like it could have been a single rly. I was really happy that it worked, it sounded much better than Party Hard was to me, frexample...
