What is the accepted term for the opposite of a "grower"? "Shrinker" sounds stupid somehow.

This is in reference to a major 2008 pop release :(

I think pirate-m has identified the standard lame music crit phraseology. Of course since most reviews are written after only three listens, it must mean 'I kind of liked it when I was doing the washing up, but once I paid attention I realised it was shit...'!

Nah I think that is unfair to yourself, your rvws are generally of the most "now I listen anew!" ones ever*. The "yes this record seems" is there sometimes (most visible in Popular prob, because that is loaded with canon and youth and influence and other possible nonexistants), but it can equally well go the other way also.

*) or maybe that is just what you meant? Anyway, to me the standard phraseology of "I THOT X [15 years ago / washing up just now] semicolon NOW I THINK Y [because I have passed 23 / am instead doing the ironing]" is one of the most fun to read anyway.

chardonnay style manual (right by my side) ITEM 7: "Feel free to use the word "anyway" as frequently and indiscriminately as you wish, as long as it does not start and end the same sentence." d'oh etc.
