On what grounds did Canada thrash Australia so convincingly? Brian Adams and Celine Dion vs Kylie Minogue and Holly Valance? Even accounting for Peaches and Feist, Australia should still be an easy winner.

Yes, but there are Jason and Dannii and lovely lovely Natalie (with those lovely eyes) and Peter Andre and Gina G and Delta and Russell Crowe (??) and Olivia Newton-John when she's not being English. I accept it's maybe a tougher call than I first thought, but srsly, 26-12?

(I like both Minogues but don't think they're amazing, and they're basically the best of Australia; both countries have given us some absolutely dire music - the Canadian indie scene is particularly noxious right now - but voted Canada on the basis of KD Lang, Joni Mitchell, Jane Siberry, Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado and the m_nus minimal techno label.)

I had a really tough time with this and I forget why I chose Australia. Kylie and Natalie Imbruglia are better than anything Canada has to offer, but Canada has more artists I like. I guess the Kylie and Nat factor overcame.
