THEM: http://www.bbc.co.uk/switch/them/ - has anyone seen this programme? Or indeed "Sound" which is on the same T4-biting schedule on Saturday mornings?
CHINA http://music.guardian.co.uk/rock/story/0,,2264056,00.html - Petridis looks for indie in China.
HURBAN - is there really such a genre as "Hurban", O American readers? What does it sound like?

Date: 2008-03-11 01:01 pm (UTC)SOUND is actually rly good. it's a radio 1 show with pictures. like popworld with more music and without the snark, though what little bit of presenter (Annie Mac and ? man) led bits there are are entirely forgettable. the stuff they have on is quite wide ranging but seems a bit heavy on the 'cred indie' end of things - epitomised by video footage of a jo Wylie 'Live Lounge' session from the week. but plenty of pop acts get a look in - Robyn, Kelly thingy out of Density's Child, Girls Aloud I think too.
they do live performances from under the westway near ME! earlier in the series they seemed to be at a different 'gritty' location each week, but seem to have got stuck conveniently near White City. hmmm
there's a lot of footage of most of the shows on line.
THEM is a little knuckle biting. it's almost a video diary 'me and my gang of mates'. kind of edumacational for an adult but it's weird seeing people self identifying. And for eg, the 'plastic' one seemed like they'd just been asked to invent the name for themselves (despite justifying it on Mean Girls grounds, it still seemed, ahem, artificial)
