Variations On A Theme
Feb. 7th, 2008 01:49 pmOne of the reasons I found doing the Morrissey review I did this week quite easy - aside from the fact that I've been listening to the old goat for 20 years and he barely changes - is that he's a pop star whose songs keep on returning to certain favourite themes. (This is one way in which "barely changes" isn't necessarily bad).
Who else does this? What are some of the ideas and themes your long-term favourite stars and songwriters keep coming back to? Do you think it's a good thing?

Date: 2008-02-07 02:20 pm (UTC)Even so I don't think the Wedding Present's one is exactly what I was thinking about, or at least I think you could get more specific with it - a lot of WP records are about the way little details snowball into a break-up, I guess.
