By existing. BUT I like this song a lot! A potential Poptimist/indie (via Sweden natch) crossover. H/t Jimmy Draper.

So let's see who we got here...a little Robyn, a little Concretes...and yet it sounds recorded with like three people in an empty performance hall. Has the acoustic menace of Aly & AJ's great acoustic remix to "Bullseye" last year, kind of reminds me of the even indier "2 Hearts" w/ bad singer. And toy-accordion-thing-you-blow-into somewhere in there. =GREAT!

Streams whole album here according to koganbot, but I haven't listened to it yet. Just catching up on these things!

As a testament to just how indie-pop this is, I thought "toy accordion thing you blow into" before I thought of the more obvious musical referent of A HARMONICA.

I like this a lot, but abandoned ship a few songs into the album. Is it worth reboarding?

Her voice is interesting for a bit but becomes a major hurdle. The stuff on her MySpace isn't very interesting...actually kind of like Bat for Lashes, in that I like their percussion and little details in the production but the cipher-songwriter thing gets in the way (except Lykke Li isn't exactly cipher-songwriter, she's just too loose with her vocals without having enough personality to justify it. Pitch is all over the place, but there's also something prim about the way she sings.) "Dance Dance Dance" picks up when the production overpowers her (all of fifteen seconds) and "Breaking It Up" is a little better but it's a little too scrappy, needs more...y'know, production values. Ditto "Everybody but Me." "Tonight" works but she kills a fairly pretty melody.

My favorite might be "Little Bit," not on her MySpace, small electro track and her vocals are a bit more subdued. Want to say it's got a bossa nova vibe, but I'm pretty sure that's not a bossa nova beat.

(Hm, I can sort of make a bossa nova beat over it, I think the right accents might actually be happening somewhere that isn't the percussion. I'll stick with "vibe.")
