NELLY FURTADO - "Say It Right"

It was a single in 2007 you know!

31. KLAXONS - "Golden Skans"

Continuing with the "January" theme. Cosmic video, dudes.

30. ASHLEY TISDALE - "Not Like That"

00s retro teenpop - video includes acty bit at beginning!

29. NATASHA BEDINGFIELD - "I Wanna Have Your Babies"

Go here for the erm babymungous video. (can't find one without embedding)

28. ALY & AJ - "Blush"

No video for this - you can hear it while gazing at the Michalkas here.

27. CASSIE - "Is It You?"

Was there actually not a video for this either? We luvs our Cassie. Hear it here.

26. DRAGONETTE - "Competition"

Another Poptimism DJ favourite. There's no video but instead you can watch 1x FANVID for a soap I don't actually know. This song seems kind of made for fanvids.

25. COBRA STARSHIP - "Damn You Look Good And I'm Drunk (Scandalous)"

No real video but hear the Cobra here. This band, let us stress, has a track called "My Moves Are White (White Hot, That Is)".

In a fit of work repulsion yesterday I wrote out the whole thing so you may well get another chunk of poll this afternoon and then I'll finish it tomorrow. Speculation etc all welcome.

I think the Tisdale video is quite new - I think it's only just being released as an actual single - and shamefully the way I was able to tell was that it was clearly shot post-nosejob.

'Say It Right' - so gorgeous. Secretly the best track on Loose; I barely think about 'Maneater' and 'Promiscuous' any more but 'Say It Right' has settled into being quite the constant in my life.

'Is It You?' was only ever tucked away on some obscure soundtrack in 07! If it really is the lead single for the album a video should be imminent.

Said soundtrack, "Step Up 2: The Streets" is actually a 2008 release. It can't be that obscure if the lead single from it is currently sitting at number 1 on the US charts.

No, it's pre-nosejob, and it was released at the same time as (the second vid for) "He Said She Said." For some reason she put out three videos at a time in October. The third was for the godawful "Suddenly." Fan comment: "Tha bitch looks like a snowcone."

I don't even know what that means, but they're right!

That's my least favourite track on the Cobra Starship album! I know I lost the right to complain about this list when I didn't submit anything better myself but I hope they feature elsewhere...

Two I hadn't heard: "Damn You Look Good And I'm Drunk"; the song seems OK but the moves are too white. Needs Backstreet Boys or Bel Biv Devoe to do it right. Strangely, I have the same feeling about the other one I hadn't heard, Dragonette's "Competition": seems to be aching for an r&b woman to take the melody home. Disappointing compared to "I Get Around," which was in my Top 20.

I would have voted for "Say It Right", but considered it 2006 so didn't. I DID vote for TashBed though and am happy to see this make it. I'm v. happy with this list so far.

Yeah, it was only the unlucky Brits who had to wait 'til 2007 to hear "Say It Right" on the radio. (Three that I voted for have made it already: "Turn The Lights Off," "Blush," and "Not Like That." I'll probably get another one or two, would be surprised if I got more.)

Have i missed something?

None of mine have charted so far - no big deal - but there are some real shockers - two Cassie tracks! I vaguely remember some discussion of her earlier in the year but neither of the two tracks that I have ("Do What U Want" and "Ditto") are here. Hm.

Dragonette I thought sank about as fast as the Long Blondes, and Cobra Starship I thought was a joke. If these two are so good, why haven't people talked about them more?

But no-one can recognise them who doesn't already know them! :)

The Long Blondes are quite popular, at least lots of my friends like them (and me)

Easy speculation: "Umbrella", obv. I can't imagine "Potential Break Up Song" being left off, and I'd have to guess that "See You Again" is in there as well. At least one Britney will make it, "Piece of Me", and "Gimme More" has a shot as well. "With Every Heartbeat" is a lock and I'd think so is "Girlfriend". "Call The Shots" has a good chance. I fear MIA vote splitting may leave her off though surely something must be there, let's say "Paper Planes". "Song 4 Mutya", perhaps. "About You Now"? "Bleeding Love"? My gut says no to both.

OK that's 10 predictions.

I think all of those 10 will make it. "Get Naked (I Has A Plan)" is surely guaranteed a spot as well. "Boyz" should make it in addition to "Paper Planes". "This Ain't A Scene..." too. I hope some Amy Winehouse charts but she will be hurt even more than M.I.A. by vote-splitting I ph34r.

I'm hoping for 'Like A Boy' and 'Single Again' to make it, and for 'With Every Heartbeat' NOT to make it. We've had 'Jimmy' for MIA already (I prefer 'Hussel' and 'Bamboo Banga' but given that I didn't vote for them, can't complain). Wouldn't be shocked to see half the Britney album up there (which is why I didn't vote for any of them).

I expect "With Every Heartbeat" to be #2, behind "Umbrella". Honestly, I wouldn't be too surprised if it snags the #1 slot.

I'll guess as a Top 7: (1) "Piece Of Me," (2) "Potential Breakup Song," (3) "Umbuberella," (4) "Heartbroken" (despite its poor showing in the chart polls), (5) "With Every Heartbeat," (6) "Girlfriend," (7) "See You Again." Everyone will have forgotten about the Gossip, or will have decided that "Standing In The Way Of Control" is 2006.

Hurrah my vote for Say It Right paid off! (I heard it the first time literally half a week after 2006 was over, so there you are.) That's one of my votes through, and not even the one I definitely expected!

I've gone so off Loose lately that I thought Say It Right was going to fall outside my top 20 altogether in the end, but then thanks to repeated shortlist play I had AN RENAISSANCE, and it was awesome again! I'm quite sad that Ice Box missed my top ten by, like, one place, though.* :( Hopefully other people have repped for it in my place!

*) what, the two just go together in my head! Bringing one up in connection to the other = UTTER LOGIC, yo.

I thought I would be the only one who voted for "Say It Right" (which I didn't hear about till the beginning of 2007, because I get all my music from posts on the Internet).

Anyway, the same thing happened to me -- totally forgot about "Say It Right" till literally fifteen minutes before I sent in my list, and ended up placing it at number two. I think I dropped Rihanna for it, actually.

I don't remember if I sent my list in... and if I did, I don't remember if I voted for Blush.

How many people had to vote for Blush for it to place?

Orgafun Small Print Rule #5: Only songs with 2 or more voters got placed.

So it might have made it just with my and Frank's votes.
