There WAS a chart yesterday but - for the first time this year - it featured NO new entries.

So, if you're whiling time away on the interwebs today, a pair of reminders:

1. All Year in Pop polls are STILL OPEN: click here to see the last 25 and then keep going backwards. The perfect opportunity to tick tracks (or whole weeks!) you missed (or untick ones you came to hate) - if you click on the "Poll#xxxxxx" link and then "Fill In Poll" you can revise previous opinions. I will probably be mad enough to totalise everything next weekend sometime.

2. FINAL REMINDER to send yr top 10 tracks of the year to leagueofpop@gmail.com today! Clearing up a possible confusion - you DON'T have to send me ACTUAL TRACKS, just a list of the top 10 will do.

2a. This final reminder especially applies if your name is THE LEX as you won't have a leg to stand on when you complain about the group's choices otherwise!

There are at least two new entries! Booty Luv and Mika. I neither know nor care if the Scouting For Girls one is new. tbh I don't think you need to put the poll up though, surely no person in their right mind would tick any of them anyway.

Oh, I'd tick the Booty Luv, even if it's rather generic r&bish disco, more like an album track than a single and dosen't hit the transcendent circling ball. And I'd have no problem ticking the Mika, which is an OK song given a competent if emotionally narrow performance but w/out the most irritating of his mannerisms. But then again, I'd also have no problem not ticking it (or not ticking the Booty Luv as well). My belated Xmas gift to myself will be not to listen to the new Scouting For Girls track (if it is new).

Three newbies in the U.S. Top 40:

Britney Spears "Piece Of Me"
Rihanna "Don't Stop The Music"
J. Holiday "Suffocate"

(Miley Cyrus "See You Again" is up to 60; my guess is that it peaks in the forties or fifties, unless the record company finally admits the song is acting like a single and actually, you know, promotes it to the record company's own radio station.)

"Piece of Me" shuffled up on the iPod for me this week and really hit home. I liked it when I was doing my album listening, but somehow on its own I found it much stronger.

HNY, poptimists!
