The Brit Box: CANON

The Brit Box is Rhino Records' new box set repackaging - for an American audience - of the history of British indie music, 1984-1998, taking the story from the Smiths all the way to...well, you'll see.

I thought it would be a good one to do as a canon - MOAR FOOL ME as it took ages to type and typing really made me think the whole thing is incredibly badly put together. But don't take my word for it, go and use your TWENTY-SIX!!!! tickys yourself on the below.

Silver Sun were better than all of those bands except Ultrasound, to my mind. The album with Lava on it is quite good. Not very British, but hey...

That was the site I got it off! Perhaps the original Suede gave up. I can't actually even remember the details of the Suede one.

At a Time, along with At The Club, was the soundtrack to my early days of drinking in parks, etc, when I was 14/15. Happy times.

They were a bit crap though, weren't they? Then again, perhaps Silver Sun were, also...

dude, this alBUM, with only a few notable exceptions, should be subtitled "They were a bit crap though, weren't they?" and i ♥ two-thirds of the bands ;)

My only Dylans memory (other than "Planet Love" - god help me I am now going to argue that Rhino picked the wrong Dylans song) - the NME not being able to get an interview with Bob Dylan for his 50th birthday in 1991 so instead running an interview about Bob Dylan with Bob. And the Dylans.

Ever since I heard about this I've been thinking of compiling an equivalent Brit Dance comp, possibly devoting one disc to House & Garage, one to Rap, one to Techno & Trance and one to DnB. Or just mixing it all up (thus making it easier to include Jaxx of all trades).

Dreadful collection, even though it has some good songs on it. I managed 26 with effort, but really, it's very haphazard.
