Here's my list, very provisional, since I haven't been listening to the radio much, and with unerring insight the labels haven't released any of my favorite country songs this year as singles. ("Teardrops" is maybe my fourth favorite on the Taylor Swift album; the followup, "Our Song," is maybe the eleventh best. Arista chose the worst from the otherwise good Brooks & Dunn alb as the leadoff single. The Rissi Palmer single is my favorite on her album, however; interestingly, it's by far the "blackest" bluesiest-sounding track on it; it squeaked into the country top 60, the first country single by a black woman to do so in 20 years, according to Wikipedia.)

I haven't yet heard the Nickelback, so I'm withholding judgment as to whether or not it's country. Perhaps my favorite country song that's new this year (I'm basically counting Taylor Swift as last year, though if they release "Should've Said No" as a single it's topping my list) is Travis Tritt's "Should've Listened" (this is a good era for should'ves), which is a Nickelback cover.

I agree with you on the Reba McEntire. I've never been a big fan of hers but that single, in my opinion, blows away the original.

Add Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder and Lead" to my list, at around number four (after Miley's "See You Again," Taylor's "Teardrops On My Guitar," LeAnn Rimes' "Nothin' Better To Do" (which itself might rise on my list)).
