I am in my yearly "jesus i'd better catch up on some albums then" conscience fit. It is like the fable of the grasshopper and the ant, the ant works hard listening to albums all year and has a proper year end list that they've thought about and all, whereas the poptimist grasshopper swans about listening to McFly and has no resources when winter comes in.

But now grasshoppers have the interweb so in yr face ant.

I have albums by Enrique, Infernal, Radiohead, Siobhan Donaghy, Field, Fall Out Boy, Roisin Murphy and Studio to listen to. I NEED MOAR. What albums have you heard so far this year that you would urge me to listen to?

(I know I talked to some of you about this yesterday.)

yay Fall Out Boy! If they count, Booka Shade's DJ Kicks, the two-cd Ewan Pearson remix collection Piece Work (when do we get a Jacques Lu Cont collection tho?) & the Italians Do It Better comp After Dark are good recent listens ... haven't heard Studio, funnily enough - been listening to the cosmic/beardo axis on more of a (very long) track-by-track basis, tho the Panda Bear album's on that tip, I guess ... Roisin & Battles work best as just the lead singles, I think. Heh, I should start thinking about this stuff myself - I'm worried that the only entire albums I've listened to this year will have been stuff I've reviewed, blech.

I like the T-Pain album, but I think I'm in a huge minority here. Tom you shld definitely hear "Time Machine" FWIW. And maybe R.Kelly's "Sex Planet".

FWIW: My Top 10 of the year thus far

Year Zero - Nine Inch Nails
The Magic Position - Patrick Wolf
The Regional Variations - Swimmer One
Grinderman
Stardom Road - Marc Almond
Super Taranta! - Gogol Bordello
Profit In Your Poetry - Butcher Boy
Robyn
It's A Bit Complicated - Art Brut
Two Gallants

The love for the LCD Soundsystem one continues to puzzle me - it has two truly great songs, one which sounds like an offcut from the (superior) debut, and a lot of stuff which seems to demonstrate the ennui and lack of conviction which the two great songs are about.

SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR! Believe me, it's the best. September's latest album, Dancing Shoes, is also very good.
