This has just been on the telly! It's brilliant! She's called Che'nelle and is my new favourite pop-dancehall-rnb star.

That's amazing, I was just randomly watching this one on Youtube the other day for no reason whatsoever. ♥

I mocked this for the first minute when I watched it the other day on Home-Choice's cutting edge music channel, then changed my mind completely and declared it charming.

Yes this is amazing! I didn't realise it was going to be, like, released over here and stuff...

Ah 'Grab That Mic' by Female Allstars! I never did find a proper mp3 of that. I think the most famous girl on that was No Lay, who is responsible for my favourite grime track ever (did you ever hear 'Unorthadox Daughter'? If not I'll upload it, it's AMAZING - "I'm the go-go-getta in the black hooded sweater, Miss No Lay don't you forget her", "spit a couple bars and put you in BUPA") - maybe her? I think she's in college and I haven't heard any new material from her in aaaages.

omg Fury was so great and scary! I was listening to 'Murk Dem' the other day - GOTHGRIME, "I'll snatch your heart and drink your blood/Cos I'm a thug and I'll show no love", "murk dem quickly, murk dem slow/Watch their souls go straight below", plus added chat about cheap clothes from Hackney market. 'Tool's So Small' was v funny too, "yr tool's so small, how do you penetrate pumpum at all?"

Oh and I just remembered the all time CLASSIC Fury line from 'Gash'! "I don't give head but/I give headbutts/A punch in the gut for calling me a slut." MAN grime 03/04 was good.

I'm not as hot on this as you all, but I do like those harmonic blobs of beauty in the chorus. Find Che'nelle too rigid in the verses. Guest vocalist is good. Who is he?

The MP3 I snagged of it credits Chenelle ft Cham - actually Chenelle sounds weaker without the video sprightliness but this is still definitely Poptimism material.

Embarrassed that I didn't recognize Cham, given that I put his album in my Top Ten last year and that his name is graffiti'd in the background right there in the video.

Cham's "Ghetto Story" is intense.

The entire Ghetto Story album is great but that title track was such an anthem. Did you hear the (amazing, wonderful) Alicia Keys remix of it?

Yeah, the Alicia Keyes remix is on the album!

It's been around here in Sweden for a while already, and yes it is great. Even better (to me at least) is Love Is Wicked by Brick and Lace.

Actually, something I dislike about these lyrics is that they're about going off and having sex with the DJ, not about the esctatic life the DJ is pumping into the dancefloor. Songs like "Into The Groove" and "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" and "Let The Music Play" are holy, about love and faith and transformation, with the DJ as conduit. While this is just a dumb old "We had sex" number. Which isn't to denigrate the sound, but hearing someone sing "One thing led to another" with a cutesy, saucy delivery as if she's saying something so brilliantly ooo-ooo-ooo is just boring when you hear it 50,000 times.
