OK during the time between me starting this canon and posting it TWO MORE entries have gone up on this especially busy day. But some things are sacred and the Friday Canon is one of them - sorry friendlists you'll just have to take the weight, as Simon Le Bon said to the elephant.

But I'll leave the picture out. You all know what The Most Fanciable Man In Pop and SLB and the other ones look like anyway, don't you? (Maybe not the other ones). From the Rum Runner to global fame to a surprisingly long after-career, I present....the DURAN DURAN CANON! You get TEN ticks.

You know, if you ignore the singles and a few really embarrassing album tracks, that last DD album was actually not that bad. "Wnat You More" and "Nice", if singles, would have been ticked by me.

i'll have to d/l electric barbarella and reach up for the sunrise. the latter actually immediately popped into my head when reading this, despite my not paying any attention to it at the time, and that's always a good sign.

"Electric Barbarella" is v. underrated. Probably not one of the 10 best singles above, but I gave it a pity tick.

I reviewed their new album the other week and it is actually remarkably good (if you can tolerate SLB's voice). Even the Timbaland/Lake collabs aren't too embarrassing! It's all very much in the 'Skin Trade' vein.

Hey, Simon! The ambulance isn't not coming because you're black - it's because in Birmingham you should dial 999!

is my third favourite bond theme (after the spy who loved me & live and let die - actually, have we had a Bond canon yet?).

And the video, inserting the band into the film's eiffel tower scene, is hilarious.

1. "Come Undone" is the best video
2. "Come Undone" is their best song. It's getting screwed here.
3. The double comeback of "Ordinary World"/"Come Undone" (just as good as their peak!), then "Electric Barbarella" is two of the best and most unlikely comebacks ever.
4. It was hard to pare this down to 10 ticks.
5. Their top 5-ish singles will stack up with the top 5-ish singles of almost any other pop band.

"Underwater yacht antics" = Simon in a speedo = made my 13-year-old heart (and pants) swoon.

Fact: Liberty is by furlongs their most underrated album. FACT.

Best vid = the OTHER filthy one, for 'The Chauffeur' (also possibly their best song).
