The votes are IN for last week's Pop Open group.

First Place - Les Paul and Mary Ford - "Smoke Rings" (45% of total points, 12 first-place votes) - stevem78 wins!

Second Place - Odetta - "All The Pretty Little Horses" (26% of total points, 6 first-place votes) - hauntedballroom qualifies.

Third Place - Pink Martini - "Dosvedanya Mio Bombino" (17% of total points, 4 first-place votes) - inhibitorylinks is OUT.

Fourth Place - Esquerita - "Maybe Baby" (12% of total points, 0 first-place votes) - martinskidmore is OUT.

A tough group, this - congratulations to the qualifiers. What do they qualify for? GOOD QN. The details of the third round are being kept a mystery for now (for reasons you can probably intuit). Check back probably tomorrow for the Sixties group.

This was a really cracking start to round 2! I honestly loved tracks 1-3 equally; had a hell of a time deciding on which one to leave voteless.

I was really disappointed not to see Pink Martini go through; overall this was my favourite round of the open so far, which I certainly wasn't expecting.

I was disappointed about that too, it really is a stunner (redundant last minute in spite). Mind it's also the one I ended up withholding my vote from -- for mostly arbitrary reasons, because it was the only way I could make a decision at all! -- so the guilt for that is partially mine. :(

Between the two groups so far, it's looking as if round 2 is set up to be a goldmine! I approve greatly.
