[identity profile] freakytigger.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] poptimists
There was a time, a couple of years ago, when a new GA and a new Sugababes single within a week or two of one another would have caused mass fizzing and rejoicement among the "online pop community". No longer it seems - "Sexy No No No" got a warm but not really thrilled reaction and "About You Now" seems to have snuck out without much trace.

This is maybe grist to [livejournal.com profile] thenipper's theory (sassy early-mid 00s pop has been superseded by Allen/Nash/Harris indiefied pop (Amy W. now seems a difft. k of f)) but what ARE you getting excited about at the moment? What are you looking forward to, o Poptimists?

(&, as importantly, what do you see other people getting excited about?)

I guess a lot of this is quite proggish! Not that I actually know anything about prog apart from this really funny and terrible Yes clip I saw once. Proper prog is all beardy men grumbling about goblins innit? This is lovely light soaring stuff.

There's a certain amount of sword and sorcery crap, but also stuff that's not like that at all.

I haven't heard AMo1 on record yet but when I saw them live a couple of months ago I was surprised how like Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii a lot of it was.
