[identity profile] freakytigger.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] poptimists
There was a time, a couple of years ago, when a new GA and a new Sugababes single within a week or two of one another would have caused mass fizzing and rejoicement among the "online pop community". No longer it seems - "Sexy No No No" got a warm but not really thrilled reaction and "About You Now" seems to have snuck out without much trace.

This is maybe grist to [livejournal.com profile] thenipper's theory (sassy early-mid 00s pop has been superseded by Allen/Nash/Harris indiefied pop (Amy W. now seems a difft. k of f)) but what ARE you getting excited about at the moment? What are you looking forward to, o Poptimists?

(&, as importantly, what do you see other people getting excited about?)

Revised opinion = it is VERY GRATING. I was listening to lots of local radio on the way back from Cornwall and the following 2007 songs ONLY were on heavy rotation over 4 different stations:

Avril - When You're Gone
Plan White T's - the Delilah thingy mentioned above
Enrique - Ping Pong Song (HURRAY!)
KT Tunstall - Hold On
Kate Nash - Foundations

They were playing older stuff in between (and TALKING a lot, rubbish radio, resign) such as old Robbie Williamses and Cyndi Lauper, and MOAR Avril. Pirate FM completely bvm Avril - they played Sk8ter Boi & WYG within ten minutes of each other!
