T-REX T-RUEFAX:

  • Marc Bolan was actually frightened of cars and spookily predicted his own car-crash death!
  • Bolan replaced percussionist Steve Peregrin Took with Mickey Finn purely because the latter had an impressive motorcycle!
  • Marc's poetry book was called 'The Warlock Of Love'!

    Just SIX ticks today!

despite walking around Barnes quite a lot (when i lived Chiswick-wards) i never saw no tree covered in blimmin ribbons. maybe it is usually invisible - maybe this is the reason bolan crashed into it.

I am showing my age here yet again, but I saw T. Rex in concert in my teen years. Marc was the first man I ever lusted after. I still rank him among my favourite singers, lyricists, songwriters and guitarists, as well as sex symbols. The first single I ever bought was Ride A White Swan - the sequence from that to 20th Century Boy strikes me as about as great a run of singles as anyone has ever released. I would have liked to tick everything here.

"hmmmm, suspect title" sa the prog-finder general, however marc did do his best to try and kill prog with his glitter and his jumpsuits etc

i used to work with a woman called deborah and spent half my life humming deboraarobed to myself (the first half obv, haven't quite perfected humming backwards yet...)

I thought T-Rex was an accomplice of Jive Bunny for over half my life thus far.

I might add that since these were the years 0-11, this was an accolade rather than any sort of damnation.

Fortunately my liking of T-Rex survived the shock that they were not, in fact, a dinosaur suit.

Like many people I suspect, I only know three T-Rex songs (20th Century Boy, Get It On and Children Of The Revolution). I like all three. I'm not sure quite why I've never got around to hearing more T-Rex music actually.

'20th Century Boy' - ruined by Placebo
'Children Of The Revolution' - famously ruined by Reginald Dwight and Peter Doherty at Live 8

Has anyone covered and ruined 'Get It On'?

Oasis. I think they pretended it was called 'Cigarettes and Alcohol', or something?

I don't remember the amount of ruinition, but it was on the b-side of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Welcome to the Pleasuredome" single.

on the first run and that was being HARSH and only picking the ones i truly truly love.

i ♥ marc so much, christ i seem to have named myself after a song of his.

everyone else should go and get a five quid greatest hits (and d/l ride a white swan and get it on as they tend not to feature on such compilations).

if he had done 0 but record the first chord of 20th century boy he would still be in the top ten pop stars ever.

The videos I have of Boutique (yes, there are videos, it can only be a matter of time before I'm bored enough to upload some choice poledancing clips...), despite being filmed over 4 or 5 different nights, suggest that the only songs we ever played were 'Solid Gold Easy Action' and 'You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)'

Which is clearly a lie. We also played The Darkness.

I ticked all five that I have heard. I am delighted (but a bit skeptical) to discover that four T-Rex songs I have not heard are better than "Jeepster."

    T. Rex only had one song to enter the Top 40 in the U.S.: "Bang A Gong (Get It On)."

Yesterday, leaving work, I saw a bloke wearing a t-shirt reading "T.REX ENGINEERING". I was so tempted to ask if he could built me a hubcap diamond star halo, but sensibly refrained.
