haha we spent much time last night over seafood pasta out in the garden arguin the relative merits of these two films -- becky's conclusion is that FAT MEN HAVE A BETTER SENSE OF HUMOUR, but while that may be true it is still the case that she is WRONG

I may have to retick then, as Hot Fuzz is not the gag-fest I previously expected, due to taking time off to be a more awkward and better film.

"You've got a moustache." "I know."

My expectations were lowered for Simpsons and then it was actually pretty funny. Not as funny as it could have been but funnier than certain misery guts led me to believe.

Hot Fuzz is a funnier film but the trailer had raised my hopes sky high and inevitably reality could match the heights of my dreams.

Likewise, pretty low expectations of the Simpsons but I got a full 89 minutes of Being Entertained out of it. HOWEVER it still got my tick because they gave away lots of the better jokes in the trailer and I love Hot Fuzz dearly.

I am too scared to watch Hot Fuzz because I live (most of the year, anyway) in a town with a v. high suicide-to-crime level. :O

iv. PROFIT!

ticking both of them is OK, right? i mean i tried to damp down my enthusiasm for simpsons, thinking it wouldn't be all that and, as previously discussed, it was perfectly OK and funny, but nothing awe-inspiring (unlike eg south park: BLU). hot fuzz is also ace, but pegg's character grates a bit (ie he is not playing the previous established version of "Himself" as in Spaced and SotD) and it might be a bit long, and it's not set in crouch end, so it's not as good as SotD...

althoguh there are still a fair few bits that AREN'T policer refs, eg point break (ok, kind of policer) and all the samarai stuff at the end...
