A slight seven new entries, though it does include at least one potential condender for Our Lady Of The Umbrella's pop crown.

I'm ticking The Thrills, who I've heard often before now (and indeed seen live) to resounding MEH. But this record... this record has got something else: "and if you're looking for comforting words they're all gone, just don't tell me that you loved me all along" yer man sings in his cracked and wistful voice. Lovely.

Amerie, though. Blimey.

I read it as poptext Abby for a minute. I have spent too much time on the interwebs.

It's all Pete Doherty's fault. No, it's down to Red Hot Chili Peppers. Or do we finger Fran Healy of Travis? Nah, sod it, let's blame Ewan McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal. They're movie stars, proper ones. They're used to shouldering serious responsibility.

If it weren't for these artists, Amy Macdonald wouldn't be the teen-sensation singer-songwriter she is now.

OH DERE GOD!!!!

Amerie is an obvious tick. I have liked previous Thrills singles, especially the still-gorgeous "Not For All The Love In The World", but this one is not even remotely in the same league. His voice is ALL WRONG FOR IT. No tick there. The Sunfreakz song is OK but the chorus is shit, so no tick for it either.

Um, I think I might have just liked two Biffy Clyro singles in a row. Is there an album I should seek out, or should I check myself into an insane asylum?

WOO for Amerie and R Kelly! I actually don't love 'Gotta Work' quite as much as some of the other songs on the album, or as much as others seem to, but it's still brilliant and rather unstoppable. The rollercoaster harmonies halfway through - "sometimes the world may seem too hard..." - and that final exclamation of "do it cos I LOVE IT!" especially.

'Same Girl' meanwhile = Brandy & Monica for boys, so they end up bro-ing down over it rather than circling each other and preparing to claw eyes out.

Haven't heard the rest but the only one I'm actually going to bother checking out is HSM; the others give me the fear.

R Kelly vs Usher is wonderful. I laughed at the twist at the end of the video too!

HSM2 song gets a big thumbs up too. Disappointed that the movie appears to have the same cast/characters as the last one though. "There are 8 million stories..." and all that. The maxim applies to High School too. Disney should've told someone else's story in the sequel.

Finally, thoughts:

Amy Macdonald - aha is this the new KT Tunstall? Not sure what she's trying to achieve here, a cross between I R SERIUS MUSISHUN and I R SECHSY LAYDEE but failing on both rly. Awful lyrics. No tick.

Biffy - boring boring boring

CoHSM2 - AWESOME. Truly brilliant stuff. Choreography to make a grown woman weep with joy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AAkR5cZbaI). Only could have been improved if it had been a Chico cover. TICK

RK & U - "Yo Ush!" "What up, Kell?" Hahaha comedy video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZRIuVqjXbc) - the looks on their faces! "The love of my life, that's my potential wife" hahahahaha. Both chaps seem quite stoic about the whole business of bonking the same lass, and decided to play a TRICK on her. I won't spoil the ending. Yes I have drunk some gin wot of it. TICK.

More later.

Sunfreakz = dull.

Not listening to the Thrills.

Not ticking Amerie as frankly I don't want to actively go and listen to it again. So yes! That's me done, I think.
