at work today i came across an old copy of the evening standard that was produced to tie in with the release of HELP (so 1965?) - it really wasn't so v. different from current forms of pop cult hype/exploitation, and i guess i was just surprised at how quickly and shamelessly the popular newspapers started to suck up to/play along with pop
