Hmm. I once saw Cast supporting Dodgy in London, and these songs were played. I can laugh about it now but at the time it was terrible.

I quite like that Bush song!

I voted for Pavement in the "favorite" section cos they are my favorite band but truthfully I probably like "Beetlebum" more than "Shady Lane."

Can't pin down why exactly. I can't remember a band quite so obviously incompetent and unsaleable receiving any level of hype - maybe that was it. Anyway I ticked them.

I ticked way more than I should have, I'm feeling generous!

I can't remember how 'Hit' goes, but I'm fairly sure I liked it.

CHRIST I think I actually have Shine 8 on tape! ARGH.

OMG BENNET

From: [identity profile] the-roofdog.livejournal.com
It is not quite 'Mum has gone to Iceland', but then that is the best song ever writ. This one is probably the third or fourth best, I would say.

This is probably my favourite Shine against stiff competition with Shine Four. Shine Four has no Bennet on though.

Also Audioweb >> The Clash

Peeler Tater

From: [identity profile] katstevens.livejournal.com
This is totally around the time the Shirehorses were kicking round, weren't it?

SHIREHORSES SONGS THAT ARE BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS:
- Single Bloke
- West Country Boy
- Peeler Tater ("oh b0ll0cks to it, let's have curry and riiiiiice")

Alas their version of Monaco was pretty poor. Blame it on the source material etc.

Confessions of a student raver

From: [identity profile] lockedintheatti.livejournal.com
I don't know most of these seeing as I spent that time (96?) mostly worshipping at the temple of bosh.

In fact my favourite here (Mansun) I only know because of the remix that was huge in clubs at the time, and which I adore. In fact I have never knowingly heard the original until now - just looked it up on youtube. It sounds weird with guitars on.

Argh noes, I thought at the time that it was the weakest single off that album and feared it was the sign of terrible things to come. Sadly, that seems to have been the case. Even the b-sides, which were better, still didn't redeem it much. I mean, I remember being hugely disappointed by 'The Wild Ones' but at least it was backed with the awesome 'Modern Boys'! And closely followed (unless my brain deceives me) by 'New Generation'.

Trust me, I was itching to display some Suede love but I couldn't bring myself to tick a song I'd slated for ages, now could I? Just to make a point? I mean, what would that make me?

Whut whut whut whut whut- I know I am late to the game here but HEDONISM, people, jesusfvuckingchrist, surely this was a masterpiece?

I was deeply in love with taping off the radio in this era, whatever it was and consequently have nostalgic crushes on almost all of this. I remained in love with the 'record' function until I went to tunaversity and discovered that student loans were for spending on CDs, however, so am not convinced is wholly that or else would have more unhealthy interest in Bullet For My Valentine than I do.

Confession: I shoplifted that Lightening Seeds album from Woolies. Lesson learnt, etc. but it was fvcking ace.
