I know it's early, but wipe the cobwebs from your eyes and crack your knuckles out, it's another Number Ones poll!

Last week the Shadows rocked the bottom with their Apache song to claim the crown of 1960 ticky-love. Poor Me? Poor you, Adam Faith! Not a tick to be had for him. But without further ado, lets find the best number one of 2002! Plenty of Pop Idol action, plus double dosage of Ver 'Loife in case you'd been missing them. And what's this? Blazin' Squad and Atomic Kitten? It's like teen pop never died, kids!

Yes but Las Ketchup filled the 2002 Whigfield/Macarena back-from-holidays slot. Unless Tarkan had a dance to go with his song then it would have got nowhere - Kiss Kiss was a hit because Holly Valance had just left Neighbours!

I'm not so sure about that - it had enough of the novelty factor about it (the kissing noises), was getting exposure through TV already, and was a big hit across the whole of Europe, which is quite unusual for a Turkish song. Although the lack of the dance / back from hols factor mean a no. 1 would have been unlikely. I still think top 10 could have been possible though.

Alizee went top 10 the same year with a French-language song and I'm not sure what advantages she had over him.

It was great, and I loved the concept of her too - Mylene Farmer (the French Madonna) sort of creating a younger version of herself to sing the poppier stuff she wrote that she was perhaps too old for her to perform herself. I'd love to see Madonna do the same.

The video to 'Moi...Lolita' was well dodgy (on top of the already dodgy lyrics and title and image!) - I adored it.

It'd be awesome for Madonna to do but I can't imagine her actually doing it, it would be a step towards acknowledging the aging process.

I looked the Moi Lolita video up on YouTube recently, and watched it three times in a row. I can recommend doing that if you haven't recently.

Yeah, I know, that's exactly the reason she wouldn't do it - but it certainly hasn't harmed Mylene Farmer, her next album after the Alizee stuff was huuuuge in France. And very good too.
