Chris Rea - "Josephine (La Version Francaise)"

This is from Classic Balearic Mastercuts vol.1 - Balearic Beat was a hugely inspirational movement which essentially argued that EVERYTHING was pop if you a) remixed it a bit and b) were fvcked up enough. This vision of pop managed to encompass the Woodentops, which probably just tells us that pills were better in those days. Here though we find grizzly old 'bluesman' Chris Rea BLISSING OUT with the help of some wah-wah guitar.

EVIDENCE B is the karaoke performance of "Romeo And Juliet" by certain posters of this parish. No recording survives.

ALSOALSO isn't this theory meant to be "everyone makes pop accidentally." if he'd started out recording blues (note careful choice of words here, i'm pretty certain he started out *playing* the blues, but by the time Jim Beach (http://www.musicsoundfoundation.com/biog_jimbeach.html) had finished with him, it was pop, adult pop yes, but still pop...

He got p1ssed off because everybody thought he was a piano player singer songwriter type after Fool If You Think It's Over, when really all he wanted to do was play slide geetar.
