Banbarra - Shack Up
I was going to post this all ironical like on my wedding anniversary on Tuesday, but then I didn't. "Shack Up" is a tract against marriage which couches the singer's entirely selfish reasons in pseudo-sociological bollox. It is a classic 'Gloria' song in that lots of people will say that the A Certain Ratio version is best, or even - o noes - the BIS version, but this original is the winner for me, ACR's dour funk schtick just can't carry the sly, faux-reasonable lyrics as well as Banbarra do.
Also a YSI of DJ Assault's "Asses Jiglin" seems to have fallen into my inbox, ahem. This reprehensible song can be found here.

Date: 2005-11-03 10:04 pm (UTC)(ooh, will try & grab the dj assault & the new trucker song on my lunchbreak - did you manage to d/l the mi-sex video? i've digitised the track itself - I'll try & ysi it at the same time).
*tho the ACR version's entertainingly goofy, the way their dourness rubs up against the lyrics to make it really wide-eyed & BACK AWAY SLOWLY, & the bis version has nice super mario noises (& it's the only track of theirs I can stand other than the jacques lu cont rmx of "eurodisco", which I should YSI sometime) . . . the only time I've ever DJed those two is when I played all three versions back-to-back, tho.
