But first of all a scores update after last week's games!

POP PREMIERSHIP: [livejournal.com profile] fugitivemotel in clear 1st place on 9 points, then [livejournal.com profile] alexmacpherson, [livejournal.com profile] dubdobdee and [livejournal.com profile] inhibitorylinks on 6. Down at the bottom we have [livejournal.com profile] hauntedballroom yet to pick up a point, and [livejournal.com profile] katstevens and [livejournal.com profile] braisedbywolves on 1 each.

CHART CHAMPIONSHIP: Incredibly tight at the top with 5 players on 6 pints - [livejournal.com profile] lisa_go_blind leading [livejournal.com profile] poptasticuk and [livejournal.com profile] skillextric on goal difference. At the other end of the table [livejournal.com profile] piratemoggy has no points, but does have a game in hand over [livejournal.com profile] infov0re with 1.

Phew!

I actually already have [livejournal.com profile] poptasticuk's results for Week 4, but I'll give you a day or two to download her tracks before putting them up. (Watch for the f-locked update). This week it's the big [livejournal.com profile] alexmacpherson match in the Pop Prem, and [livejournal.com profile] lisa_go_blind in the Chart Championship: big opportunities here to pick up points from these early leaders. Here are the intros:

[livejournal.com profile] alexmacpherson writes: "Alex, 24, male, I write and DJ music and can therefore still pretend that my obsession with finding new music and keeping up is "research". Things I don't like include boys with guitars and shoddy mp3s, but five things I do like are: 5) electro-pop with heart (Junior Boys, Jenny Wilson) 4) tabloid-friendly teenpop (lovely Paris, lovely Hilarity, lovely Lindsay) 3) most everything under the 'urban' umbrella: dancehall, soca, grime, bashment, dubstep, all permutations of hip-hop except conscious/undie hip-hop (though as Chris Rock said it's not the conscious lyrics anyone objects to, it's the conscious beats) 2) pretty pretty minimal house and techno, preferably as melodic as possible; I like non-minimal dance music too but only if it's not trying to be rock music; basically insert "stuff which sounds good in clubs on drugs" here 1) r&b girls, being futuristic or retro, singing ballads or bangers, being brash or subtle, superficial or sincere, doing ANYTHING."

[livejournal.com profile] lisa_go_blind writes: "My name is Sally and I'm a 21-year-old advertising student from Baton Rouge (Southern US). My minor is in film, and I'm quite active in Quiz Bowl and bar trivia. I enjoy horror movies, Thai food and bad puns. I often feel too pop to be indie and too indie to be pop. Five musical things I love: 1) '60s girl singers, 2) synthpop, 3) danceble indie, 4) clever samples, 5) the liberal use of electronic organ."

Deadline, as ever, is Friday PM. Tracks, as ever, to leagueofpop@gmail.com. Happy selecting, selectors!

ha, I found a freebie CD from HMV with like R&B stuff on it, I considered using it, but thought that would be 'cheating'. Think I will wait for last week results before I submit.
