Surprisingly good Charlotte

I turned on the radio yesterday and heard a track that sounded very cool, with hints of NIN in amongst the obvious emo-ness of the track. Imagine my surprise then, to discover that the track in question is the first single to be taken from the new album by Poptimist favourites (??), Good Charlotte. Released today, here's the video to 'Get Your Hands Off My Woman'.

What?! Get Your Hand Off My Girl is utterly, utterly awful. I think the one thing I like in it is the "aah-aah" in the chorus, but that's it. It's really, really awful. (Incidentally, they're playing a different video on The Hits; I think that's the US video).

I am having trouble reconciling the fact Good Charlotte are comedy emo nutcases whose only previous asset was a mildly faciable, if comedically emo bassist with the fact I really like 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl' and 'The River.' :/ Especially given the fact 'The River' has that totally comedy tart from Avenged Sevenfold singing some of it and actually sounding quite good. I mean, on the one hand I quite like it when music makes me reassess my prejudices but christ on a bike, Good Charlotte...

Best bit of 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl' is (aside from the fact it makes NO SENSE AT ALL) 'the disco ball on the ceiling looks like the chain that I'm wearing' which, as detailed elsewhere in the song has brass knuckles hanging from it- what kind of disco ball is this? Brilliant.

They put that Jeffree Starr idiot in the video for 'The River,' too. I really shouldn't like it but I can't stop myself.
