LEAGUE OF POP: Nominations week 1

Right! The League of Pop gets going with two tough matches. First of all, contestants in the Pop Premiership need to find a track for xyzzzz_ - here's what he has to say for himself:

"Hello I'm xyzzzz__, and I contribute posts every now and again to poptimists and sukrat LJs. My top five musical things/qualities/likes are, in no particular order:

(1) Musical things that are hard as rocks and soft as snow (though not necessarily at the same time), (2) Music that is as structured as it appears to be random (hopefully at the same time), (3) Music as an ugly-beauty, (4) Musical things that aren't (at first) very musical and (5) The novel music that I like but don't know. Things I might hear among these 11 tracks."

In the Chart Championship meanwhile, the challenge is to find something that martinskidmore will like (and not already know). His description:

"Hi. I'm Martin, 47, English. I work as a senior systems analyst - years ago, I was a comic book editor. Divorced. I read lots of books and comics and watch lots of TV. I'm developing a website about Japanese arts (400 pages so far). I have 5-6,000 albums. I review singles on Stylus and my LJ has loads of lists of favourites. Five reasonably representative huge faves: Al Green, Rolling Stones, Wu-Tang Clan, Willie Nelson, Underworld."

thanks, Frank - Do know paperthinwalls and read some of the reviews and d/l there from time to time. Won't say whether I liked it or not right now, but will do so after I've scored the CD.

But interestingly, the track we posted, "DTL Infants Remix," isn't on the CD, so you should download it (if you haven't already) while it's still available. (PTW only keeps the dl available for a week, though they stream forever; and actually "DTL Infants Remix" is available for download on the Infants' MySpace. And three of the four songs from the CD are on the MySpace if you want to check them out first, the fourth being a live track that's not as good as the others.)
