The second part of the launch-day qualifiers, and these four polls are of particular interest to Prince fans (or Prince hataz) - 3 songs by him and another one written by him. The other group has the tournament debut of the Queen Of Pop.

Group H is my harshest yet - three songs I love, and a terrific underdog in the fourth slot. I think "The Message" may walk it though it's my 3rd favourite in the bunch.

Group F on the other hand is pretty weak, and I was surprised to find that the track I'd want to hear most is...The Clash!

G is intriguing.

Group E: Madge has this one sewn up despite battling Pavement.

Group F: Prince can still cut JD's lead but I don't see it happening.

Group G: Very close between Sledge/Bangles

Group H: Walkover for G Flash at this rate.

"U Got The Look" is the lowest-ranked entry in the entire qualifiers process, by the way. The highest ranked song NOT to qualify was "It's The End Of the World As We Know It" by the Remmies.

BTW, Poptimist Prince fans... the Superbowl half-time show on Sunday 4th February will feature Prince (as previously announced), but what I was unaware of until last night is that he will be duetting with Beyonce! And prior to the game, the Star Spangled Banner will be sung by Billy Joel! OMG!!!

Ooh, "Losing My Religion" gaining ground!

I think LTR has a pretty great tune and a pretty awful singer, so it's ripe for a good cover - there must be one out there. I'm thinking Marit Larsen style maybe?
