Now if you get a flu attack, for thirty days you're on your back...either way there's no excuse for not filling out the December Top 40 singles poll. A last chance to rate the hit parade before it all goes pear-shaped with unreleased downloads, re-entries via TV exposure etc. - it's been wonderful, truly. Final table of results will be published next week. All Saints 'Rock Steady' topped the November poll with just a piffling 16 ticks.

my first unticked section in the top 40 polls :(

Thanks entirely to the disappointing CRAPNESS of the Jamelia and Gwen singles. The Jamelia one is really awful, I don't know why people like it (well I DO but I prefer not to think about it). The Gwen I thought would do a HUMPS and grow on me after the initial shock but yodelling aside it's actually just really boring.

'Personal Jesus' is still great! But the sample completely dominates Jamelia and the song itself is pretty lame; it's basically her worst single and yet it's treated like some kind of pop pinnacle just because people recognise the tune!

I feel like Jamelia just doesn't handle that song well. The production's wrong- they should have made it prowl, not stomp, to go with her voice, in my opinion. She just sounds kind of like she's trying to shout to be heard over the backing as it is. It's one of my least favourite tracks off her new album. :(

I agree about 'Wind It Up,' although it also makes me cringe in places.

Yeah that's exactly what's wrong with 'Beware Of The Dog' - it totally doesn't play to Jamelia's strengths, it's this clumsily wacky quick-follow-'SOS'-bandwagon pop song where no thought whatsoever has been given to who's going to sing it. Jamelia does light, dreamy stuff very well, and she's good at subtle and quite emotional microdrama, but stompy and feisty? No.

"Wind It Up" went quite quickly from 'this doesn't quite work' to one of my favourite singles of the year.

It is in some ways quite a troubling song. Speaking as a parent.

Rly like "Beware of the Dog" too tho not quite as much as I did on first listen.
