[identity profile] freakytigger.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] poptimists
Unfortunately I'm too busy to do the nice picture banner at the top of the post today, but here are the final two categories in the End of Year poll - as ever, multiple nominations gained you a place, in the case of "Track Of The Year" you needed a mighty THREE different poptimists to rep you, in the case of Lifetime Achievement, well erm yes.

The Lifetime Achievement contestants should need no introduction, even to the Lex. The Track of the Year nominees should also be familiar to most, though hopefully someone less hassled than me will get an opportunity to post YouTube/MySpace/etc links.

Thanks for nominating, voting, and especially commenting on the awards - they've been some very good threads. Normal services return next week, most likely.

Wise words from Martin on JB here. Certainly more sensible than the "Go James! Kick those limeys' asses" post I was contemplating ;)

Well, I just changed my vote from JB to Timbo. Brown is obviously more important than anyone else nominated here, and his best is better, and his musical ideas are still in play (which is to say that people don't know quite what to do with them, that there's still something destabilizing about those funk rhythms), but nonetheless I wanted to vote for someone with longevity who's hot business right now in our Poptimism world. I mean, Beethoven and Charlie Parker could get awards too... (Not that I think either Beethoven or Parker is as important as James Brown.)

Jeff, I emailed you but it bounced; ilX is back up, and with it a brand new rolling teenpop 2007 thread.

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up, Frank.

My e-mails on old ILX are all fake, I think.

If I have to re-register with the new server I probably won't bother. (I'll be glad to be finally "off-ILX" to be honest; I have enough desk-distractions now as it is. I will still read the site though - well, the teenpop thread anyway.)

No such luck. Old registration is good.
