Here's a poll it should do quite well in.

[Poll #889295]

Meanwhile, anticipation is at tepid pitch for the Poptimists End Of Year Poll Awards. Please go and nominate stuff - you don't have to put an entry in every category! It's here.

Poor BOB only got to no. 61. Shocking!

I like it apart from some TERRIBLE lines ('Shaggy said boo hoo i don't have a clue') altho you could pass these off as fun enough perhaps

The other missing 'hit' is 'Ghetto Musick' (#55) - which has a funny video

It was appallingly 'promoted' and not given as much support by MTV, Box etc. as it should've been. It may even only have been limited edition - people probably thought it was too weird. Dunno how well it did in the States tho.

I was actually shocked that Outkast were still around at that point as I thought they'd faded like certain other similar mid 90s hiphop acts who failed to make much impact (Black Moon, Souls Of Mischief) here.

But 'Miss Jackson' changed everything - quite a masterstroke.

I'm amazed Morris Brown didn't do very well this year, the video had a PURPLE DOG in it! Only got to no. 43.

I haven't heard any of the Idlewild album - inc 'Morris Brown' and perhaps surprisingly have no interest in it.

Outkast as token hip-hop act = duddest thing ever. A couple of songs aside they really don't figure on my radar of amazing hip-hop from the years they were good let alone now.

TRUFAX. is and remains their best song, in my opinion.

Haha total hivemind lockdown on BOB! Even including people who weren't on ILX - how did you hear about it?

Crucially he is less "wacky".

I was giving a sympathy vote to Andre but everyone else seems to be too

Big Boi is likeable but a bit boring frankly.

For me the clincher was that he wasn't in the last issue of The Face and Andre 3000 was.

I like them both, but I think Andre is one of the best rappers I've ever heard - in terms of flow more than lyrics - so he won my vote.

OutKast tracks to go Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100:

"Players Ball" 37
"Elevators (Me & You)" 12
"ATLiens" 35
"Ms. Jackson" 1
"So Fresh, So Clean" 30
"The Whole World" 19
"Hey Ya!" 1
"The Way You Move" 1
"Roses" 9

Notable for their absence: "Rosa Parks" 55 (though 19 on the r&b/hip-hop chart); "B.O.B." not at all (though 69 on the r&b/hip-hop chart)

i remember seeing 'Southernplaylistcadillacmusic' video on Yo! back in the day so surprised that didn't make the 100. Tho it's possible I am confusing this with 'Players Ball'.
