This is about Proving By Science how good an album really is. But it's a second successive slump for the 90s as 'The Fat Of The Land's total came to a mere 62% in the last study, leaving it at the bottom of the pile so far. Moving onto the 2000s and perhaps scores will improve by virtue of more people being more familiar with the choices (than agan maybe not - who knows in this crazy world of pop-pickery). Next up, a phenomenon in both the intersecting hip-hop and pop spheres, please, join me in rating the following tracks from Eminem's 'The Marshall Mathers LP' album out of ten:

[Poll #886481]

I've left out the shortest skit and attached the other two to the track either before or after - if you particularly enjoy the skit you are free to reflect this in your mark for the accompanying track. If you've not heard or can't hear the song you could either not mark it (if you dislike the artist generally) or give it a 5 for balance if you do like the artist generally.

I do most of the time as well but this does not mean I think it's bad.

I bought this only recently! Have only listened to it once though. I promise I'll give it another spin tonight, no doubt with furrowed brow pondering marks out of 10.

I do remember being struck by how much of it referenced (or imitated) cuts on The Slim Shady LP. I have yet to decide if that's a point in its favour or agin it.

I had the Slim Shady LP on tape, never bothered with this one. However Eminem was still good at this point so I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I really liked this album during my 'OMG, EMINEM' stage* and to be honest, I'd forgotten how good it was until I filled this in. 'Drug Ballad,' in particular is pretty amazing.

I've never been really sure if it's ok to like Eminem. I mean, there's the misogyny, the homophobia, etc. but you get the feeling, from stuff he did later, that he just didn't know any better at the time so... hrmm.

*To be perfectly honest, this stage would still be in full swing were it not for the fact I was too broke to buy any of his albums since this one at anything near the date of release and so have lost interest. 'Mosh' still makes me cry, mind.

Bonus track on my copy. I'd have given it an 8.
