HELP POPTIMISM MAKE A CD!
Nov. 5th, 2006 09:18 amAS YOU KNOW, next Friday (the 10th) is Poptimism night.
AS YOU KNOW, it will be the return of our Club Popular special night, where we play ONLY UK number one hits.
AS YOU MIGHT VERY WELL ALSO KNOW, we like to give away a CD to the first 20-30 or so punters to arrive.
I need to compile this CD. We already did a giveaway CD of Number Ones, and very good it was too. What I thought would be good is if I asked Poptimists to nominate the songs that SHOULD have been number ones, but weren't. Simple eh? Luckily no poll is so simple that it cannot be complicated by a RULE or two viz.
1. Please fill in the reason if you can, this will turn up on what we presumptuously call the 'sleeve'.
2. Whatever you pick needs to have had a FIGHTING CHANCE of being a UK No.1, by which I mean only songs which were UK Top 5 hits or hit No.1 in an English-speaking market will be considered for the CD.
3. To preserve the element of surprise this poll is viewable to none. Feel free to agitate for other choices in the comments though!
4. Don't vote for "Vienna", it was rubbish.
[Poll #860549]

I'll fix your punk rock ass
Date: 2006-11-07 12:07 am (UTC)I feel like witholding my nomination (like you even needed it).
I was going to suggest Love Is Like Oxygen by The Sweet because its risible where it succeeds and its bearable where it fails
you were right about Vienna
