1981 was a veritable tick-orgy with the pride of place going to the Human Leg, who got 100% tickylove with 49! Marc Almond & Adam Ant couldn't quite keep up. Whilst Imagine garnered the most hatred in the comments box it was poor old Julio Iglesias who sadly scored lowest with his overlooked cheesebox masterpiece. This week we have two versions of the same song, oooh-weee-oooh just like Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis having trouble keeping it in his trousers. 1957 people, c'mon!

[Poll #857170]
(*JLL added onto 1957 thanks to erroneously being missed off the 1958 poll. Sorry Jez!)

I am ticking Lonnie Donegan on principle - I am not familiar with these songs but was already planning to go and buy one of his albums this very afternoon! Also, Guy Mitchell and Tommy Steele FITE!

None of the obscurities here are really great, but it's worth pointing out how AWESUMLY ROCKIN Cumberland Gap and "Gamblin Man" are.

The two (actually quite) different versions of Singin The Blues are worth hearing too, as a little snapshot of music at the turn of the 'rock era' - Guy Mitchell's is a slicked-down light entertainer reading, all chuckles and winks, while Tommy Steele's is a really studied Elvis vocal rip off, to the point of being completely incoherent.
