Following Wednesday's Thriller poll, it's probably time we sorted out just which of Michael Jackson's UK Top 40 hits are Thrilling and which are steaming piles of Bubbles! I can't even begin to describe all the bonkers things our Michael has done, so let's get on with the ticking!

To keep things manageable I've left off the Jackson Five material (enough for its own canon really) except where Michael is credited separately. You have SIXTEEN ticks to denote your Jacko love!

This is one of those people I always thought "Yeah lets do a Jacko canon", and then I looked at what I'd have to type out and I thought "Sod that". So WELL DONE KAT. But there are going to be several 100%s, surely.

I ticked exactly 16 on my first "run through". I think things would have been trickier had I included the J5 stuff. Or maybe not? I can recall the majority of these but apart from the super-famous ones my J5 knollidge isn't really up to snuff.

Could've included 'Why', his 'duet' with 3T from around 94/95.

It always puzzled me that his duet with Stevie Wonder ('Get It') had not been a hit.

"State Of Shock" - I only heard this for the first time since 1984 recently - it is GREBT, the Jacksons go garage rock!

"Earth Song" - come on, it's amazing. What about the elephants? OK liking it is a bit 'outsider art' but if there's one song that sums up the madness of latter-day Jacko this is it. Good hooks too!

Scream = doesn't live up to the £££ spent (no matter what stevem78 says, but groundbreaking at the time
Thriller = obv great, got shown to us in Yr 7 English class as example of "horror genre"
Billie Jean = less disco floor tiles than you'd think! But tramp turning into tapdancer is always good
Earth Song = only now are people worrying abt Global Warming ten years later!
Black & White = interchangeable heads and MACAULAY CULKIN ARGH NOES

PBS Album Rank update: 71% of 'Thriller' is good according to Poptimists. Not bad. There will be a new scientific analysis of another 80s classic on Monday!

Relative levels of mental

Although Jacko is proving to be clear winner of the doolally stakes, I think Elton is probably the most mental "sane" one out of all the Divas we've covered so far (ie he could probably still make a cup of tea for himself if he really *had* to, but of course he has someone to do it for him so he wouldn't dream of it).
