I can't bear a day going by without an enormo-poll, so let's genre it up with some DANCEFLOOR ACTION! Taken from the brilliant compilation Best Disco Album In The World Ever!, here for your delectation are a myriad of hits old and not-so-old. To make things interesting, canon rules apply! You get only TWELVE ticks to choose your favourite disco tracks!

Bloody hell that was tricky! I'd pick 20+ if I could.

That's the toughest poll I've had to do yet. It was almost impossible to pick 12 and now I've seen Black is Black is still on zero I'm tempted to go back and change it.

Hahahha I picked 14 after reading yr comment! :) And yes, it was tough even though the official line is that I DO NOT LIKE DISCO ;)

There are some difficult decisions here BUT I am FORCED to conclude that NOT ENOUGH OF YOU HAVE HEARD "Spacer": because to know it is to love it.

To remedy this:

love it but right now feel that 'crying in the discotheque' surpasses it

This is a Rodgers-Edwards production, by the way.

Which I have never heard, but nonetheless I am skeptical of this claim.

Skepticism confirmed. (I mean, it's missing all the spookiness and most of the beauty of Donna's version, and what it does instead is your typical rave slam-dance.)

The 'Carwash' song. Has it ever been acceptable in any of it's forms? I'm assuming it's the one Dolly Parton did first?

Rose Royce did the original, as far as I know.

Car Wash is one of the greatest songs abt full-time employment ever written.

It also has an absolutely knock-out middle-eight, beautifully song, that almost threatens to overwhelm the verse+chorus.

Gd movie too - Joel Schumacher!

Produced by the magnificent Norman Whitfield, formerly responsible for nearly all the Temptations' great moments.

I actually love every song on this comp that I've heard (about 4 or 5 are unknown to me). I should buy this, I don't actually have many of these on CD.

Did none of the Shames hit in Britain? (Not that I can really criticize anyone's ticks, I'm just surprised these two didn't do better. By the way, Shirley is the same Shirley who hit in 1956 as part of Shirley & Lee with "Let the Good Times Roll.")

My tick for Shirley is based on it being the one that goes "Shame on you, if you don't dance too". However if this is Evylyn Champagne King then I should transfer the pick.

No, you have your tick in right box.

Frank - Shirley & Co. reached #6 in UK, but Ms King only got to #39.

You are correct. The single-shame "Shame" goes "What you do to me is a shame." It's great, though the only YouTube version I can find is a live one that doesn't have the sad eerie sexy feel of the studio track.

It is my opinion that 'Young hearts run free' is FAR too sad a song to dance to.

This version of "Staying Alive" is excellent: it features great Euro-rapping by Ricardo Da Force, who did the MCing on the KLF hits.

Narada Michael Walden (and DLT!) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmJLlHGTT-U)

plus also Belle Epoque, but "Black is Black" not yet on youtube it seems :(

This Silver Convention 'song' not especially deserving of love, unlike Fly Robin Fly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roOoQWSEJOY)

That is a terrific comp - hardly a track on it that I wouldn't score at least 7, most of them higher.
