I knew she wasn't commercially successful but surely the critics would have noticed her though? I mean there have been quite a few Britcentric records (including in this very list: Neneh C, Soul II Soul) and surely her critical profile wouldn't have been zero.

was 'Buffalo Stance' a hit in the States? I know 'Back To Life' was. BS does 'sound' American, I think. Whereas Kate B does not at all of course.

"Buffalo Stance" a big hit. Also, it isn't necessarily that Kate B doesn't sound American, since if you want you can place her in the North American line that starts with Leonard and Joni (obv. that's not all she's doing). I just don't think she was that high profile.

yes i didn't mean to imply that Kate wasn't big there BECAUSE she didn't sound 'American' in any way. plus she did do well in ANy countries outside the UK anyway?

Perhaps I should give her more of a chance then. (I ticked Neil.) By nĂ¼-Brontism do you mean Emily and Charlotte and what's-his-face?

Of course, I think of Neil Young as the Lindsay Lohan of social significance (which is to say he has no clue but he's beautifully emotionally committed to his extravagant whiffling). Meaning Kate B would be the Lindsay Lohan of _______?
