What struck me right off was that you could tell this was a Linda Perry song in ten seconds. And then I thought - as an example - of how much this reminded me of Pink's "Family Portrait," which I then remembered was not written by Linda Perry. But there's a sound that Linda and Pink created that Christina glommed onto. (And of course, this does sound like a whole bunch of other Perry songs: "My Vietnam," for instance.)
Tom - if the Aly & AJ seems too rawk for Poptimism there's a dance remix of it that might suit. I referred to it on the ILM Teenpop thread. It's not as good as the original, but it's pretty groovy nonetheless. I keep meaning to recommend it to jauntyalan for the podcast. I only have it on CD not as mp3 sorry.
First verse of the real "Rush" (haven't heard the remix) has electro-skitter beats, and from there the lava overflow of the song ought to be enough to propel the dancers, I'd think.
