The later stuff is all depressingly OK, except for Minimal which might end up being one of my singles of the year, somehow.

Left to My Own Devices I think I like 50% because of the production, 40% because it reminds me of my brother, and 10% because I knew who Debussy was when I was a kid but not Che Guevara, so used to sing 'Jaco Vara and Debussy to a disco beat...' I thought Jaco Vara was a Spanish composer.

Damn, It's A Sin should maybe have been my favourite. Catholic school guilt and that.

'It's A Sin' + 'Like A Prayer' = Holy Trinity of Catholic guilt. Even though there are only two of them.

There must be another! Christian Girls by Hefner? Tho' that's a bit indie...

My personal one would be 'Crucify' by Tori Amos but surely there's been another Big Pop Hit which would complete this trinity?

Brian McFadden's effort is definitely not it, though. I think Chaz Church is the obvious choice to make a storming Catholic guilt single but she hasn't done it yet; Xtina's skirted the subject but never as overtly as Madge or PSB.

It;s going to drive me mad trying to come up with one now. I can't think of many about Christianity, to be honest, but then my mind's slow today. Obv. Belle and Sebastian did a few, like If You're Feeling Sinister, but that';s not very pop at all.

Left To My Own Devices is my fave. It's definitely a musical highpoint from late 88, which in poptimist terms is no meant feat, considering the competition from the last few months of that particular year.
