With some of yesterday's fites still finely balanced, onto the second half of round 2 - more songs to whittle down. Some real blockbusters here - two of the songs most closely associated with 00s poptimism going head to head, a battle between Richard X and Xenomania, and a Britpop era clash are three of the juicier highlights.

As ever, just tick the one you like best in each pair.

[Poll #798576]

This poll will stay open until Monday (as will yesterday's).

Since Jeff W is away I propose a PET SHOP BOYS CANON for later this afternoon.

... on the kicking Beyonce is currently getting? I expected it to be MUCH closer than that.

It's an unjust result anyway. Crazy In Love >>>> Toxic.

Ah, it's the same reason as GA winning, and Blur losing. People aren't thinking about the song but the singer.

nope. that was an easy one for me. one of the acest tunes ever versus a song that doesn't even have a chorus.

i've said it before, crazy in love REALLY hasn't aged well, despite it being totally OMGWTF etc when it came out, 9 months later it was like "well, y'know, s'alright"...

the SAME AS 'TOXIC'!

they're both overrated but Crazy In Love is still better, because of the bridge. And the uh-ohs. Poptimists just don't like r&b :(
