Myself and [livejournal.com profile] tommymack were discussing the lucrative business of writing "niche songs" ie what would get used ALL THE TIME on regional news to introduce stories with specific theme E>G> Bicycle Race by Queeen ALWAYS gets used whenever there is "a fabulous new cycling scheme in [insert London Borough here] to get kids active and environmentally conscious!!!"

And The Money Programme clearly has the following PERMANENTLY stored in the CD player ready to crank them out at the drop of a penny:

  • ABBA - Money Money Money
  • Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? I don't (by Frank Sinatra I think)
  • Simply WrongRed - Money's Too Tight To Mention
  • Sneaker Pimps - Tesko Suicide (cos it's got that cash register noise in it)
  • Adventures of Stevie V - Dirty Cash

Even Markie Smith & His the Falls have got in on the act by cleverly writing a song with "FC" in the title so hence this must clearly apply to ALL FOOTBALL and hence it must be played on Grandstand innit.

SO, we clearly need to write a song about Recycling or the Olympics or Migrating Wading Birds what will be 1xhit wonder and hence give us big fat royalty cheques twice a year courtesy of BBC LDN. I would write one about Terrorism but music tends only to get played over the end of Sugar Coating stories at the end. In fact, the opening strains of Freddie Mercury is one of the main signs that the upcoming story is Coated in Sugar, esp It's A Kind Of Magic.

    Any ideas?

clearly wrong. i assume you have seen the clip of bunnys too tight to mention on rathergood.com along with holding back the ears etc

i wouldn't recommend a niche track - twill be the albatross when you branch out. even look at bands like suitable case for treatment, they didn't play wooga for a year then suddenly zane lowe plays it a few times and its all people want to hear
