A slowish September turned up no more than ten #41-75 tracks – and it took a new Metallica album to get it into double digits. Click, watch, listen and vote as per usual!

[Poll #1281585]

In August, the clear winner overall seems to be Featuring. We have Nas Featuring Keri Hilson at 47.1%, Lloyd Featuring Ludacris at 41.2%, and DJ Q Featuring MC Bonez at 35.3%, the latter tied with um Bodies Not Featuring Organs.

BONUS AYIPS FACT: The song with the longest chart run ever without ever hitting the top 40 (including reentries) is Ken Barrie's "Postman Pat", which first entered the chart in July 1982 and has clocked up 15 weeks.

Pink has hung on to the top spot, fighting off stiff competition from a comedian in drag and last year's X Factor dude (Same Difference were ROBBED why yes I am still bitter).

Probably-X-Factor-related re-entry watch: Boyz II Men's 'I'll Make Love To You' in at no.89, U2's 'With Or Without You' at no. 66.

Here's the top 50 of the year, worked out by a complicated formula involving the number of votes each song got and its percentage of the total vote for that week. Er, complicated in that I just timesed them together and multiplied by 100? Anyway I've kept all the figures in there (votes / percentage / score) so you can make your own minds up.

I'm Miss American Dream, since I was seventeen... )

Remember you can go back and change your vote in any of these polls! If your favourite track isn't getting enough love, here's your chance to convince everyone to do just that! Alternatively if you wish to bemoan the state of UK pop then the comments box below is available for some wailing/teeth-gnashing action.

I want CRISPS! (Kaiser Chiefs)

Lyric of the year? Post your favourite...

EDIT: I should have made this OP clearer. What I am looking for here is the most memorable lyric of the year - the one that stands out...

For instance, for 2002 the lyric that fits this description the best is surely Shakira's "Lucky that my breasts are small and humble / so you don't confuse them with mountains"...

These guys are from Finland, and they are totally inspired by Lord of the Rings. They are playing in London in December. This has got just about every element I love about battle/fantasy/symphonic metal - swords, elf-ish ladies, male/female vocals, crunchy rhythms and a catchy hook in the gravelly "third immortal, the lord and the servant". Their "Last Alliance" album is probably my favourite 2008 release. Okay, I can't write about music without sounding like I'm 14.
