Hello, I forgot to do the Pop Open reminder yesterday so here it is - you still have time to vote in the poll and I won't put the results up until 4 today. Here's the poll:

[Poll #1064664]

Also if anyone knows [livejournal.com profile] mcatzilut could they ask him if he's still playing? I don't have his 70s track and can't seem to reach him via email. If he is then I can run the 80s group tomorrow instead. If he isn't then I can find a 70s track myself, so it's easy either way.

A more manageable eight new entries this week, including Aly and AJ's UK chart debut and the seventieth single off the Mika record.

[Poll #1067778]

Importantly, all previous polls remain open. Why "importantly"? Because you can GO BACK AND TICK ENRIQUE. This has been a public service announcement from the [livejournal.com profile] poptimists admins.

Here we are, results for the second group in round 2:

First Place - Lyme & Cybelle - "Follow Me" (10 first-place votes, 38% of total points) - [livejournal.com profile] umlauts WINS.

Second Place - Wilson Simonal - "Nem Vem Que Nao Tem" (4 first-place votes, 30% of total points) - [livejournal.com profile] infov0re QUALIFIES.

Third Place - Terry Callier - "Johnny Be Gay If You Can Be" (3 first-place votes, 18% of total points) - [livejournal.com profile] skillextric is OUT.

Fourth Place - Gloria Jones - "Tainted Love" (4 first place votes, 15% of total points) - [livejournal.com profile] xyzzzz_ is OUT.

Well done all four submitters - another excellent group all told.

Round 3, I can reveal because I've just decided on it, will drop the group format for 6 individual "bouts", done 2 at a time. Details of themes etc to follow.

I just noticed Facebook publish aggregate statistics of what users in each geographical network list as their top interests. The music listings are... totally depressing. I only looked at the ones in the UK (you can't get listings for the UK as a whole), but you can get them for US cities as well in the 'Browse All Networks' bit.

http://rockcritics.com/2007/10/03/rockcritics-music-blogger-symposium/

If yr involved in the rock-critical hobby/business (or if you're a dedicated observer) then this will be interesting - a roundtable starring several prominent music bloggers including two (maybe more than two! I don't know who everyone's LJ ident is) of this community and a certain Mr S Reynolds who gets mentioned here a fair bit.

Lots of interesting themes here - I intend to blog about this more on FT but I thought I'd get the link out here quick while a few of the UK people are still reading...
