Last time on the #1 polls, 2002 saw the battle of the girlbands, with Sugababes narrowly pipping Gels Alahd to the post, with Freak Like Me getting a massive 41 ticks. Now dudes, its time to rewind twenty years - oh man, I've been looking forward to this year for ages. Boyband FITES! Yazoo covers getting the wobs top spot! Dave Bow-tie rescuing his career! Put your hands up for 1983!

[Poll #977180]

Argh sorry dudes, managed to post this twice. Re-tick pls!

[livejournal.com profile] byebyepride pronounces! (I also have the Pop Prem results - want me to post them after I get back from lunch, or tomorrow?)

"Well like most competitors, I was absolutely thrilled to get the tracks, and amazed by how accurately most people had managed to gauge my taste. Obviously some of my track choices over the competition have been a giveaway, but I suspected my blurb last week wouldn't have been particularly useful. So thanks to everybody, and sorry I couldn't give all your tracks top marks! On first listening I think I liked all of them immediately -- except for one -- although a couple aren't standing up to repeated attention. A few stood out, but the middle and lower grounds were tough to pick apart. Anyway, over to the hotline in the newsroom where the results are coming in…

The Verdict )

I am not exactly awash in Week 10 tracks, so keep them coming!

League of Pop updated with tracks and winners. This means that Koganbot is still top, on 19 points, and Lisa_Go_Blind is second on 18. There is then a chasing pack led by Jeff_Worrell on 14 and SIX others on 12 or 13. infoV0re mathematically can still get into the play-offs, but he can still be relegated too, on 8. Moggy and byebyepride have 4 each, with Moggy now marginally behind on 'goal difference' at the bottom.

Pop Prem tomorrow, where [livejournal.com profile] strange_powers has handed out at least one potentially decisive score - but at which end of the table?

(I need to have a Gary Lineker on MOTD icon, don't I?)

"One of the things I really like about Eurovision is that it's a pop space which regularly and brutally REJECTS retro and revivalism via the ballot box: the regular ABBA-clones now can only scrape 12th or 13th and the French entries in their early-60s timewarm end up in the bottom four. Eurovision's commitment to the modernist project is impeccable!"
