Only eight teams now remain in the competition and the tension is incredible. This quarter-final sees England come up against Portugal, the team who dumped them out of Europop 2004 at this same stage. Can [livejournal.com profile] zenith's bold selection break the jinx, or will [livejournal.com profile] thebopkids' far-reaching scouting policies prove a match-winner? YOU DECIDE.

Our second quarter final pits two relatively unfancied teams against one another. Those in the know had tipped [livejournal.com profile] jel_bugle's Trinidad as dark horses, and so it has proved, with a group-winning performance followed by a knotty win against Ecuador. [livejournal.com profile] dubdobdee, meanwhile, was the only person to talk up Iran's chances before the tournament began, but after topping their own group they hammered Serbia in the second round and now hope to spring a third surprise.
