Let's pause a moment to reflect on Now 57, which saw our second ever 100% vote - for "Toxic" - and also the highest ever percentage score for a non-winner ("Milkshake"). We will not see its like again. Probably.

And now for Now 58 - also packed with fine tracks, with attention surely resting on the debut of Kristian Leontiou the SONG THAT BROKE THE INTERWEB, Outkast's "Ha Yeah". Included somewhat late on this Now poll, which otherwise celebrates the summer of '94. Let's see what you think about it.

'Everytime' is Britney Spears' best single ever.

We've been through this before Lex, it's still not as good as "Lucky".

Although Cobain > Stipe > Dorff > Spears is the funniest alleged sexuality relationship ever, so "Everytime" gets bonus points for helping it along.

Wrong. It's dull and dreary and snooze-making.

She wrote it for Justin! Is that not the most heart-rending thing ever? Not being moved by 'Everytime' = possible indication of HEART OF STONE

Eric Clapton wrote Tears in Heaven for his dead child. Does the fact I hate that record confirm my HEART OF STONE? If so, guilty as charged, as I was unaware I was supposed to factor the motive of the songwriter into account when evaluating the music.

Eric Clapton's dead child = wvs
Britney and Justin = star-cross'd lovers of 20th century

"so fragile sounding, which is striking in an age of quite maximalist pop"

Just like Fall Out Boy!

Boy emo is, like, the furthest thing from fragile ever! Their nasty clumsy boy voices stamping unsubtly all over the horrible clunk clunk tunes. Britney on the other hand is TREMULOUS and WISTFUL.

Is this the Tori-esque one with the suicide-or-not-in-the-bath video?
