I don't have create-o-poll-ability due to spending all my money on houmous and camera film. But someone who does really ought to do one for one of those Valentine's type compilations, or one endorsed by Steve '90% pre-recorded, I need space to drive the desk' Wright. I think the rubbishness quotient needs determining...

I tend to sleep with the radio on so wake up to the quacking voice of Wright talking hil-ar-iously over the trails more times than I'd prefer. On the other hand, waking up to Brian Matthews (not literally, arf) is a good way to start a Saturday, I reckon.

I think stevem78's monthly polls and youtube links have played some part in increasing the recognition factor of a few of these songs. Hell, the very existence of poptimists is a factor no doubt.

Recency is also a factor though - there are plenty of songs on past Nows that I recognise the title of and would have once known but are complete blanks to me now. So it's also a fact that for more marginal tracks the recognition hasn't had time to fade way yet

Maybe. I used to listen to a lot more chart radio than I do now, which means the new songs I get to hear a lot don't bear as much relation to what Ver Kids are listening to. Then again, most people have The Hits/TMF now whereas I never used to have music TV.
